A Grown Woman Named "Baby"Baby"

Another woman lives there, but no one knows her name. She is a grown woman, but the residents call her "Baby". Baby had a serious mental disorder; she wore no clothes. All she did each day was sit naked outside of a small, unsanitary bathroom stall that was her only shelter. There she sat, in her own waste, in her own world. I prayed for her and wrapped her in a blanket to cover her nakedness, but later we saw she had taken the blanket off again. The next day I bought her a nightgown so I could slip it over her.

The residents living there said that she will never allow you to put the gown on her, or she will rip it off immediately. They told me to be careful because she may start screaming or try to hit me. As I came near to Baby, I began praying for her and speaking kind words to her, motioning to her that I wanted to put the nightgown on her. She had such fear in her face, and at first she resisted and would not allow me to put the nightgown on her. After a little time of praying and speaking gently to her, she finally allowed me and two other women with leprosy that were trying to help me to put it on her.

After this, I prayed for her again, and then she sat more calmly, with her new nightgown on. I looked up and saw that a crowd had formed, just watching Baby and me. They were certainly surprised and happy that I had gotten the clothing on her. They were also touched by this act of compassion. I am praying for this woman's deliverance and that the Lord would touch her in a miraculous way that she would truly feel the peace of God.
