Hopeless Cries of Devastation and Sorrow
Independent Church in India was deeply grieved and saddened by the tragedy and loss of life, and was determined to make a difference. Not knowing what kinds of conditions to expect, five team members packed their small van with all the blankets, bread and water that they could and left for the closest shoreline.

Where huts and houses once stood
everything was destroyed.

Reaching their destination after around six to seven hours, they began searching for a village that was in great need. Everywhere along the coast they witnessed utter devastation and suffering.
|
|
In some places whole villages were wiped out, dead bodies waiting for burial, and hopeless sobs of utter sorrow filling the air. The people in this area were advised to wear masks to prevent the spreading of disease from the dead bodies. The water was contaminated everywhere.
