Many of the hopeless people shared their hardships and losses with the team. One woman who had lost her daughter-in-law and six grandchildren shared with unstoppable tears, "I can never forget that day when I saw four hundred bodies floating in the water".

A group of women shared, "We lost our whole families. Everything we had went into the water. We don't know how we will stay in this place, for now we are fearful to go back to our area. Our local government is not concerned about us, they still have not come to us, we are like a forsaken people here."

Other desperate people shared with the team, "Please save us from this tragedy or just kill us, because we don't want to live anymore. We have lost everything. We have seen our families going into the water."

The Gospel team made their best effort to be a light shining in the darkness to these hurting people and to comfort and share the love of Jesus to them. Some of the people also shared with the Gospel team, "We are so sad and many of us want to die and want to commit suicide, but you came to encourage us. You are such nice people and your love is so good to us. Since you came to us you've given us hope."
