Outreach To a Tribal Group

Independent Church in India visited a tribal group called Sirumala. This was their fourth visit to this tribal group. On their second and third trips, they had taken them some clothes and Bibles, and the tribe had invited them to come back anytime to teach them more about Jesus.

The tribal group is usually a group of out-cast people who live separately in the mountains off the land. The team journeyed in their small van for around two hours. Then, when the van could go no further due to the rocky road filled with mud from the rainy season, the team began walking to cross mountains. It took them around six hours carrying boxes of soap supplies to reach them. They reached them in the evening and the tribe received them warmly and was very happy to see them again . They were very hospitable and gave the team blankets to sleep for that night.

Early the next morning, around fifty tribal people gathered together to hear the Word of God. Afterwards, the pastors and the team prayed for the tribal people and gave each person bath soap and soap to wash their clothes. Some of the group joyfully shared with the team, "We can tell by all the risk and trouble you took to come and see us, that Jesus does truly love us. He is the God that loves us". Later that same day the team walked another six hours to return to their homes.
