Return Trip to Tsunami Disaster Area Site

Independent Church In India (ICII) had a burden of the Lord to return to the tsunami disaster site that they had visited a month earlier. In the village called Kallaar, close to six hundred people resided. Hundreds of these village people had lost beloved husbands, wives, children and family members.

Thanks to the loving support of the ICII ministry partners, the Gospel team was able to return again to this large village with more disaster supplies. They also went with two hundred New Testament Bibles and lots of Gospel literature, by faith believing that many of the people would be open to the Gospel.

Upon their arrival, many of the residents of Kallaar came to greet them warmly. The village people were very happy to see them again.

The village leader of Kallaar remembered them very clearly; he shared,"You people were the first ones that came to us to help us and to comfort us after we lost everything due to this tsunami."

As the Gospel team was sitting and talking with a group of women, some of the women shared with them, "We cannot forget you because you were the ones that came to us first and cried along with us."

The ICII team asked the village people to gather all at one spot, because they wanted to share the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and give them disaster supplies. After a large crowd gathered together one woman stood up in the crowd and shared with US missionaries Lowell and Kathy Smith, "After we lost it all, you people came from a far country to comfort and encourage us. With all of our hearts we are giving thanks to you for your coming. We cannot forget this tragedy in our lives. When you go back to America please share about us with your family and friends because our government is not doing anything for us. Up until now only disaster relief workers have come to us. Many of the men in our village have become ill. We don't know how we will survive, because we don't know how we can learn a new trade. Even our children cannot concentrate to study because they have lost everything. If we had some boats and nets then we could go back to catching the fish for a living." The tsunami has destroyed almost all of this village's boats and nets which they had used to earn a living before the tsunami struck.
