By the last weekend of February, the orphanage was up and running and now there are thirteen children who are living there. It has been so exciting to see more children coming to the orphanage in the past few weeks. ICII is urgently looking for more loving sponsors before they will be able to take in more children. The children who have come to the orphange are very happy to sleep in a bed for the first time in their lives, to get three healthy meals, plus snacks each day, to play with toys, to brush their teeth, and to receive so much love and tender care.
Before this, all these children have had a dark and sorrowful past full of suffering and despairs, but now the Lord is mending their hearts and giving them joy as they experience His compassion from those who are caring for them and sponsoring them.

Children's Testimonies - To give you an idea of some of the children's background who have come to live at the orphanage, here are some testimonies:
Jothimuthu (age ten) - When Jothimuthu was seven years old his mother was pregnant five months . But because of family problems, and poverty she committed suicide by jumping into a well. She also took his sister (age two) with her, and she also drowned in the well. Jothimuthu's father is always drinking alcohol, and he will leave his village for periods of time. His father does not take care of Jothimuthu and many times he will beat him when he returns home again.
The only one that tried to take care of Jothimuthu in the past was his grandmother (named Ydaiyammal) who had leprosy. She to was very poor and only lived in a small tent with a mud floor. But after ICII began to help support her over a year ago, she shared her food with him. His grandmother was very happy to bring him to the orphanage so he could receive a good life. Jothimuthu shares, "Most mornings I will get the old rice which was cooked for my dad. In the afternoon I won't eat because whenever I eat the food from the school I will get stomach pain. Usually I did not eat in the evening also. My dad used to beat me". After coming to the orphanage, Jothimuthu exclaimed, "I like to stay here!"
