The Man With the Huge Foot

One week, when we had a Bible study at Seelapadi, we visited the man named Bethen, who has the huge, deformed elephant foot. He had gotten a severe infection in his foot and was in excruciating pain. He and his wife lived in a very small, old, and damaged hut barely big enough for two people to sleep in. We had to stoop over to go inside. We ministered to him and told him that he should go to a doctor, but he said no doctor would help him because of his caste and his condition. He also could not afford treatment; many times he and his wife wouldn't eat for days, because they had no money to buy food.

Bethen shares; "I couldn't sleep or do anything because of the pain in my leg and foot. I thought that my life was going to end. But now you saved me by taking me to the doctor and paying my expenses". Since then, Bethen has become a believer. We were able to build a new hut for him and his wife. Each month, ICII provides good rice for this poor couple to ease their suffering. Bethen shared: "We had a very small hut and every time it rained the hut leaked and it was so cool and I could not sleep inside. You who built this nice hut for us is a great help to us. Now I can sleep inside very comfortably. I didn't have anything to eat but you gave the nice rice to me. After you came to our village it seems like we are rich people now. God is blessing me so much. Now I am calling upon Jesus day and night".
