The Healing Power and the Saving Grace of Jesus -2

An unhappy child at Seelapadi.
|
|
Even though Seelapadi was the most poverty stricken, demon worship-steeped village ICII has ever known, the Lord is moving here and bringing deliverance to those in the grip of bondage. More and more are receiving the Lord. Many are receiving healing in their bodies, and others are forsaking their idol worship. A few of the people told us that since ICII has come to share with them about Jesus, they are feeling a kind of peace and joy that they did not experience before. Each week our teams are praying for many people who are realizing that there is something special about Jesus.

One youth said: "When I was here before it was so sad and miserable, and I had gone away. But now after I came back here I feel a peace in this village since you have been coming here".

One man who was a new believer told us during one of our Bible studies, "Even though you prayed for me, I am still having bad dreams." We told him to remove and destroy all the idols out of his house. After sharing with him for some time what the Bible says about the sin of idoltary, that same night he went home and destroyed all of the idols that he had in his house. He told us that same night, instead of having nightmares as before, he slept well and he dreamed that Jesus came to him in his dream and said, "Come unto me!"
The thin lame woman, who we gave a big bag of rice, shared: "Now I am worshipping Jesus day and night. I would like to come to church but don't know how to come because I cannot walk". However, she did somehow make her way to church in the following weeks!

One elderly woman, who was always shaking and very nervous, would carry around a small container in hopes of collecting the leftover rice water that people normally throw away. Many people cook their rice in the morning and let it sit around all day in the water (without refrigeration) until evening, and then they will eat their dinner at night. After they scoop out all the rice, they will usually throw away the water. That water was this poor elderly woman's only diet each day, and to get it, she had to beg from house to house. We gave her a big bag of rice and she was very happy and satisfied. "Only after you have come I am having a full stomach. I am eating rice with much satisfaction". We have decided to continue supporting her with rice, because this was her only hope to survive.

This woman's main diet was rice water.

My heart cries out for people like the woman we gave the rice. She was in need of everything because she didn't have anything but the old ragged clothes on her back. Yet when we gave her a bag of rice, this was enough to satisfy her. It takes very little to save lives and meet desperate needs here in India. There is certainly much work to do in Seelapadi alone. They told us that before we came to them, they had never heard the name of Jesus. Most of the people cannot read, so we will have to teach them everything.
|
|
We want to keep teaching them the Bible, bringing Christ's healing and deliverance to those who are hurting, provide for the needs of those who are suffering, and build or repair huts for those damaged by the flood. We humbly ask you to prayerfully consider helping us to continue the work in this village and help us to reach more villages like this one with the Gospel and to help the desperate. The suffering of these people is beyond description; it must be seen to realize the horror of their circumstances. You can help to put an end to this suffering....
