Joy Fills the Air at Home of Compassion Orphanage - In India, the school year starts in June. Most all of the twenty-five children who have been checked in at "Home of Compassion" are now living at the orphanage. The Lord is using ICII and the children's sponsors to rebuild lives of despair into new meaning and purpose. Every child that is living at the orphanage tells us that they are very happy to live here and that they feel that the staff and the other children are their family now. They all shared that they are not in need of anything, but are content with all that the Lord has blessed them with at the orphanage. Many of the children shared what they want to do when they grow up. Over half of the boys said that they want to be pastors, and over half the girls want to do ministry in the villages. Others want to be doctors.

He could not work because of his disease. Two years ago when Muthu Sammy was in the city of Dindigul begging, Pastor Britto and US missionary Kathy Smith saw him on the street and invited him inside their van where they shared the Gospel to him. That day, Muthu Sammy received the Lord Jesus into his heart and life. The Gospel team also gave him a leprosy compassion pack and a hot meal that day. Muthu Sammy shares, "This is the first time that any one has ever told me that somebody loves me. It gives me lots of joy to know that Jesus loves me and is not rejecting me. After I received the Lord that day, I have been praying every day for the Lord Jesus to provide for me. Now Jesus is providing all I need. When I heard about the Home of Compassion leprosy community, I was so happy. Now I am living here joyfully and comfortably. I am so happy that I can live longer for Jesus".
For food, he could only get old and sour rice that no one wanted. Instead of throwing it away they would sometimes give it to him. He would also come into the city of Dindigul to beg every Monday and Friday

The Lord is using ICII to transform the lives of many leprosy victims from despair to new hope here at the new leprosy community. Even though most of our leprosy friends are still sleeping outdoors, either on the porch or under the pavilion, they are still happy. But we want to do much better for them. Like every human being, they deserve a house, especially during the damp and rainy season. Please prayerfully consider helping us to build housing. We want to start building a home for twenty leprosy friends. The estimated cost will be $17,000. So far, there is $9,000 saved up for this urgent project. We only need another $8,000 to reach our goal!

Leprosy Community Update - As of this writing, we have 13 leprosy friends living at our new community on the Promised Land. All of these leprosy friends have one thing in common that they have never experienced before in life. They are all saying they are now so happy! A man named Haniba that had been staying at the government hospital has finally been released to come. Haniba, once a sincere Muslim, has now made Jesus the Lord of his life. The same day that he came to his new home at the community he shared with hope, "I feel that Jesus will bless me here. Here I have hope and good care. I want to stay here for the rest of my life".
These leprosy friends are giving their thanks to ICII for the free medical care they are receiving each week.
Raj, who was featured in the last newsletter, came to the community the beginning of April. Everyone at the government hospital from which he came thought that he would die due to the severe infections on his legs. His thin body was very weak due to lack of nutrition. When Raj first came, he needed help even to get out of bed and stand up. After receiving prayer, treatment for his infected legs and feet, healthy food, and love and kindness, Raj's condition astoundingly improved. Now he is able to walk and take care of himself without help. Raj shares with enthusiasm, "Now I am doing very well. I can walk and run now! I am so thankful for what you have done for me, you saved my life. I came here like a dead person, but now you gave me life here".
A Leper Experiences the Love of Jesus - When Muthu Sammy was 15 years old, his parents died. He lived in a very badly poverty-stricken home with his two brothers. When Muthu Sammy was 25, he got leprosy. His two brothers chased him out of the house and told him they never wanted to see him again. All of his family rejected him when they knew he had leprosy. From that day on, Muthu Sammy became homeless and lived on the streets. He moved to another village and began to beg so he could eat. .
