MY MISSION TRIP TO INDIA :
A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE!
...by Kathy A Smith
Founder of “Fill the Void” Ministries
 |
Just this past January of 2003 my husband Lowell and I went on our first mission trip to India to work with our partners at Independent Church In India” and videotape them doing ministry among their people. In July of 2002, Pastor Britto, the founder of Independent Church in India contacted our ministry “Fill the Void” through the internet. Never having heard of our ministry before, he felt the Lord speak to him and tell him to type “Fill the Void” into the Google search engine.
|
| Out of the hundreds of search engines that are out there Google is the one that ranks “Fill the Void” site the highest, so right away we felt a connection to Pastor Britto and felt that the Lord had a great plan for us together. After many confirmations from the Lord, Lowell and I joined their team with a burden of the Lord to share their vision to all who have a heart to win the lost. Throughout our trip to India we saw God's hand upon the ministry of “Independent Church in India”. To make a long story short, God is using them and their ministry teams to reap a harvest of lost souls for God’s kingdom! They are in desperate need for more ministry partners to help with all the fruitful work they are accomplishing. |
| While we were in India for only ten days we saw hundreds of people and children either responding or dedicating their lives to the glorious Gospel of our Lord. Never have I seen such a harvest field open to hear the Gospel. Jesus said: Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest” Luke 10:2 . |
"Jesus said: Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest” (Luke 10:2) .
|
| From morning till night our Pastor friends Britto and Richard took us to visit their churches, their Bible study cell groups, or preaching the Gospel in the villages. This is a typical day in their ministry. Some of the places we visited were hearing the Gospel for the very first time. The high light of the whole trip personally for me was when Pastor Britto and I walked around together at one of the villages and did personal evangelism. That day the Lord used us to share the Gospel with many desperate and hungry souls. As I shared in English, Pastor Britto interpreted my English into their Tamil language. |
 |
Some of the people responded by saying that they have never heard this message about the Lord Jesus Christ before. It was a joy to know that the Lord used us to lead many souls to the Him that day. But as we left that village I had such a burden because we did not even have a Bible to give to them so they could start their new walk with the Lord. As we left the villages I sensed the desperation in the new converts' eyes to learn more about Jesus. Pastor Britto and his team will meet with them weekly but they need Bibles and follow-up booklets. So we are praying that God will provide these needs.
