Jesus Came To Set the Captives Free!
Muthu is a teenage girl from a village named Perumal Patti. In the past, the people in this village did not allow the Independent Church in India Gospel team to preach the Gospel there because they did not want anyone to share about other gods. But the team was led of the Lord to go back again. This time God had a great plan. As Pastor Britto and American missionary Kathy A. Smith arrived at this village, a group of about thirty people gathered around them to hear the Gospel. While they were preaching, there was a loud disturbance from a man who obviously did not want them there. They continued sharing the good news of Christ and eventually he left. When they gave the group the opportunity to receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, Muthu came forth and knelt down boldly in front of the whole crowd to receive the Lord Jesus into her heart. All the village people were amazed to hear her pray the sinner's prayer, because they were well aware of her disturbing background.
The village people knew that for the past three years, Muthu would get attacked by what they believed to be an evil spirit. For more than three years her parents went to lots of places to try to help her get recovery, but they couldn't find anyone to help. Often, when she got these attacks, she would try to kill herself by throwing herself into the well or in front of a bus. Many times she would hide herself in a small cave or under the thorn trees. Muthu had suffered very much from this oppression and many knew about her sufferings. The same day that Muthu accepted the Lord, her mother told the Gospel team; "if Jesus can deliver her from this, we will dedicate her to work for the Lord the rest of her life".

The following Sunday, Muthu was at church early with two other girls. They had also accepted the Lord personally in their hearts at the same village but had not come forward during the altar call because of fear of the village people. That day, Pastor Richard prayed for her deliverance from the demonic presence that she claimed would hold her down at night and which caused her sleeplessness. He also told her to remove the mantras (witchcraft jewelry) from her body and to remove all idols from her house. |

Muthu now testifies with a new hope and light in her eyes that she is sleeping well at night. Jesus Christ has made her free! "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed" John 8:36. All three girls have been faithfully coming to church each week.
Muthu shared; "Throughout my life I came to know that Jesus is the only redeemer whole over the world and also in my life from the satanic hand. Also God used the servants from ndependent Church in India to minister and to share the Gospel in my village. If they didn't come to share the gospel surely I will be in demonic bondage my whole life. Now I am thinking about other people who are in demonic bondage without knowing our deliverer the Lord Jesus Christ wherever the Gospel is not yet preached".

Many of the people from this village were totally surprised about her deliverance by the liberating power of the Lord Jesus through the Gospel and prayer.
