Setting the Oppressed Women Free...

In a society that gives her second-place status from birth to death, there doesn't seem to be much reason for a woman to even exist. She is degraded by society from the moment she is born; she is trampled and despised her whole life through.

Determined to make a difference in the lives of women in Vadipatti area Independent Church in India started a free tailoring school in the month of September for jobless women, widows, and youth orphans. The main goal was to lead them to the Lord Jesus Christ and to teach them a trade so they could provide for themselves and their needy families. Around 25-30 women come each day, many of them come from a strong Hindu background. The school is currently being held at the Vadipatti church.
Each class is split into two groups; a morning and afternoon section so they can share the sewing machines. From 11 to 12 o’clock the groups meet together each day for Bible teaching. Around 28 women have already willingly accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

The tailoring school students are
hearing the word of God with joy.

Many look forward each day to the hour of Bible teaching because they are excited to learn more about the Lord Jesus Christ. When these women first started coming to the tailoring school they came with little hope or peace on their faces. But now do to the love of the Lord Jesus Christ, they are coming with smiles on their faces! Many have now found meaning and purpose in their lives.

Independent Church in India is excited about the lives that are being changed while coming to the Tailoring School and hearing the word of God. We are planning to have this school until the end of November. We are praying as the Lord provides that we can have more schools in the near future to allow the Lord to touch even more lives here in India.
From Death To Life...
My name is Pandyammal. I have no father or mother, only two younger sisters. We are living at my grandfather’s house. The rest of my parent’s family have rejected us. In our lives we could find no peace or hope for our future so I decided to commit suicide. One day I gave poison to my two sisters and I also drank the poison myself. My grandfather found us and took us to the hospital and spent lots of money on us for recovery.

Soon after that I realized that I needed to get a job. At that time the Gospel team from Independent Church In India came to my village and handed out tracts and a notice that told me about their free tailoring school. I began coming to the Tailoring School and I began learning the new trade and hearing the Bible teaching. Something is changing in me. I have come to know the Lord Jesus Christ. Now I feel in my heart that I did wrong in my past and if I had not attended these spiritual classes in this tailoring school I would not be alive now. I thank God for His hands that are upon me and my future.
