Many of the lepers are praying to accept Christ after they hear the pastors from Independent Church In India share the Gospel.
|
|
Ten hours by vehicle from the church at Vadipatti, in a place called Burgure where Pastor Isaac resides, there is a leper colony which has only heard the Gospel through Independent Church In India. Here, people are desperate to hear that there is a God that loves them.
|
| Many times Pastor Richard has conducted Gospel camp meetings for the lepers, afterwards feeding them good food called briyani, which is the best food many of these lepers have received their whole lives. In the United States, leprosy is curable, but in third world countries such as India, millions of people are horribly stricken with this dreaded affliction. |

Empty eyes filled with pain. Jesus wants

Day by day their flesh withers away and the suffering continues. But at this leper colony, Independent Church in India has brought the hope of the Lord Jesus Christ into many lives, and has put smiles on their faces, despite all their torment.

Future Goals To Reach Those With Leprosy
Pastor Richard and Pastor Isaac have a burden of the Lord to teach the lepers Bible teaching on a regular basis like a discipleship course. As these lepers hear and meditate on the word of God, they will grow strong in the Lord, and also they will learn that God has a meaning and purpose for their lives. Those with the dreaded disease of leprosy are considered outcasts among the society. Very few people get near them, and many of their families abandon them. Most of them have no peace or hope in their lives. If the lepers become a part of a Bible study group they will learn that they are very special in God’s eyes and how much He loves them.

Independent Church In India wants to show the love of Jesus by providing medicine, bed sheets, clothing, good food and Bibles. As the Lord provides, we are seeking to share the Gospel and help as many other leper colonies as possible in the surrounding areas. We have a burden to fellowship with them and encourage them that Jesus wants to comfort them and heal their broken hearts.
