A HUMBLE SERVANT CALLED FOR GOD’S PURPOSE…
Pastor Richard Joseph is the associate pastor of Independent Church In India. He is diligently working along side his brother and founder, Pastor Britto Joseph. God has placed a heavy burden in Pastor Richard’s heart to fulfill the last command and to preach the Gospel to every creature.

He has personally shared the Gospel with well over 100,000 village people and faithfully disciples the new believers by holding regular Bible studies with them. He also visits and encourages the churches he and his brother have already raised up. He is determined at any cost to reach those who have never heard the name of Jesus. Pastor Richard's Testimony
“I was born and brought up from a Roman Catholic background. My parents had dedicated me to serve as a Roman Catholic father in my childhood. When I was five years old, my dad came down with a severe case of tuberculosis so he became bedridden. The doctors all forsook him and our whole family lived a very hard and tearful life. My mother began going to a Bible-believing Church and there she received a word from the Lord that God would deliver her family.
After this, the Lord healed my dad from the tuberculosis and my family left the Roman Catholic Church and they came to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Even though the Lord had done this wonderful miracle in my family's life, I was still not willing to dedicate my life to the Lord. One day, at the age of ten, I went alone to take a bath in the river but accidentally got into deep water and I could not swim. As I began drowning, my soul cried, " Lord, I am going to hell! Please save me and I will serve you all my life". Suddenly a hand grabbed me out of the deep water and pulled me to safety. When I came out of the water there was no one there! God had supernaturally saved me! Right there, I dedicated my life to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
One night about six months later, our electric had gone out. I went outside to check on our chickens, because I heard them crying very loudly. I reached my hand in the dark to try and find out why the chicken was crying. As I felt the chicken, something pulled it away. In my heart I felt the Lord say; "Richard leave it, there is a cobra there!" Quickly I went to get a torchlight and shined it in the place where I felt the chicken and I saw the cobra snake's body! God had miraculously saved me the second time! As I got older at the age of nineteen I dedicated my life to praying three hours per day. I felt the Lord was asking me: “Richard, if you don't come to my ministry, who will come to do my ministry from your house?” So instead of getting a secular job I began working for the Lord.
In the year 1999, I was working with "Campus Crusade for Christ" and I felt called of the Lord to do His ministry with Independent Church In India with my brother Pastor Britto. God has now opened the way for me to preach the Gospel among those with leprosy, those who are blind, hospital patients, street kids, village people, north Indian tribal groups and work among Independent pastors. He has allowed me to care orphans, support and send out missionaries, equip and train youths and lead the outreach teams to preach the Gospel in the remote villages.

My main desire in life is to serve my Savior until the day I die and equip others to do the Lord’s ministry. My future goals for this ministry are to start a television ministry, have open Gospel crusades, and a discipleship ministry which is equipping the youth to reach the unreached rural areas and hilly places. I want to do pastor's seminars and supply free rice and ministry materials for the poor pastor's. God has put the burden in my heart to help the people who are serving our Master. I always want to be faithful whatever the Lord calls me to do. I am ready to die for the Gospel".

God has used Pastor Richard along with His brother Britto and their team workers to reap a harvest of souls for God’s kingdom. This harvest has not come without a costly price. They face bitter persecution and aggressive opposition. Both brothers and leaders of Independent Church In India have had their share of trials and tribulations for the past few years. Last year, Pastor Britto was badly beaten by a group of RSS members for passing out Gospel tracts at a bus station.

After being hospitalized, he was told by his doctor that he would not walk again, but the Lord healed him miraculously and he was up again preaching the Gospel in just a few short weeks. Pastor Richard also suffered the same fate just this past December. He was beaten by a group of men opposed to the Gospel and had to be hospitalized for a week. The Hindu doctor that treated Pastor Richard in the hospital shared, “better than my treatment, I felt that some kind of supernatural power is doing something in Pastor Richard to recover. I can't believe he is getting very fast improvement. This is the first time I am seeing any person getting recovery so soon! I recognize that he is a true believer and follower of Jesus”.
The day before Pastor Richard went home, he and his brother Pastor Britto shared the Gospel with the doctor and he accepted Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior!
Even though Satan would try to destroy God’s people, the Lord has done mighty things in the midst of these trials. Doing this time of persecution God has been adding many more souls into His Kingdom!
