After Prayer, God Provides the Rain
|
At another village, the team met a young man named Isaiah. He was a Christian that had a burden to be a witness to his village where a very small percentage were Christians. After the team shared the Gospel, some accepted the Lord, and the team has been going back to have Bible studies. At the first Bible study, a group of around 20 people attended; not all could fit in Isaiah's small house, so some stayed outside to listen.

The new believers were very excited to hear more about the Lord Jesus Christ. Afterwards, the people asked the Independent Church team to pray for rain, because it had not rained a drop for months. After they prayed, God worked a miracle and it rained the same night and the next night as well. Isaiah began going to encourage the people who were at the Bible study about how real God is and that they should trust in the Lord, because only God can work such a miracle as causing the rain to come.

Reaching Out To the Muslims
One evening, Pastor Richard and Kathy and some other team members went to a village where there were many Muslims. That day around twelve Muslim women willingly made a commitment to accept the Lord. One Muslim woman asked the team to pray for rain. So they prayed for rain, and that same evening it rained a few drops, but the next day it rained much more! Thanks to God for His mighty witness to these precious Muslim women.
One evening, in a village named Chinnapallpatti where they worshipped ancestral spirits, one man invited the Gospel team into his house. He began sharing all his problems with them. He had just written a suicide note to give to his mother and six sisters. He wrote where and when he was planning to end his life. But that night, the Lord saved him after the team shared the Gospel with him. The man said he does not have the desire to commit suicide any longer after hearing the truth about Jesus. That same week, he attended the church.

Giving the Hopeless Hope
Another day, in a Hindu village that had many temples for idol worship, a group gathered to hear the Gospel team immediately after they arrived in the village. After hearing the good news about Jesus, some of the people willingly accepted the Lord and began bringing many others from the same village so the team could pray for their sicknesses. After moving on from that area, the team handed out more Gospel tracts and shared through personal evangelism. One of the men that had accepted the Lord from the first group tracked the team down and told them that they should visit another village nearby named Poliyampatti. He said, "At that village there are many people who have no hope, and broken hearts like we had. You should go and share Jesus Christ with them also".

After they finished sharing the Gospel, the team moved on to the nearby village which the man had told them to visit. Upon arriving at this remote village, the people were also very serious about hearing the Gospel, and many accepted the Lord. Walking through this village, the team noticed many heartbreaking situations and the desperate need of many of the people. Many people were overcome by poverty, stricken with illness, and living in hopeless depression. Many of these people came to the team so they could receive prayer for their sicknesses and various problems. Some of these same people have also attended the new church.

In the village of Poliyampatti the team was heartbroken to see a woman suffering with an infected eye due to a bus accident. She had been suffering with this infection for over a year.
