Sosila's Testimony: The Lord Grants the Desires of Her Heart

My name is Sosila. I was brought up in a nominal Christian background. When I was just a child, I saw others doing God's work where I lived, and I had a desire to work for God also, but I never had the chance. When I grew up, I got married to a Hindu man who was a teacher and he made a nice salvary, but he never would give any to me, because he had a bad drinking problem. In my family life, I had much sadness, and it was a horrible life.

I began going through a lot of worries and I felt very empty in my heart. I would just go to church and by name I was a Christian, but I had never really accepted Jesus into my life at that time. My husband began to drink alcohol everyday, and my son and I were very depressed because my husband spent all the money on alchohol and we had much poverty in our lives. I even had to send my daughter to my mother's house, because I had no money to take care of her. Even though I didn't really know the Lord at that time, many times I would cry to Him and ask; "why do I have all this poverty and sadness in my life?"

My son Tamilian grew up to be a strong and dedicated Hindu. Every year he would walk in the holy journey. This was a journey where many Hindu's would walk for many weeks or even months to worship their heathen idol gods. We lived in a small leaf house and I began praying; "Lord when will I have a bigger house, and Lord, when will you give me peace in my heart?" I would cry all the time, and when I was around Tamilian I would hide my tears and sadness because I was concerned about his future. I prayed for Tamilian to be a Christian in name, instead of a Hindu, even though I didn't even know what it meant to have a true relationship with the Lord. Everything that Tamilian would try to do also would end up failing, and he was also feeling very empty inside.

Then one day, I came across a friend in my neighborhood named Cerina. She told me that she was also seeking the Lord, so we began to pray together. We prayed that we needed a good pastor and a good church to go to, and that we wanted to worship the Lord and had a hunger and thirst to learn the Bible. That same day after we prayed, we met Pastor Richard from Independent Church in India, who came to our house because he was distributing tracts and sharing about Jesus in our village. When we saw him we got lots of joy, believing that God had already answered our prayers!

Cerina and I both talked with Pastor Richard and asked him to arrange a prayer meeting in our houses. The very next day, Pastor Richard returned and the prayer meetings started. After this, I came to really know Jesus as my true Lord and Savior. I began doing ministry with the pastors and their team members. I now go every day with them from village to village sharing the Gospel by personal evangelism. I have a great desire to do ministry for God and he has given me the desires of my heart. Another one of my heart's desires was to always live in a bigger house.

The pastors and other believers and I began praying for a house for me. After two months of prayer, God provided a bigger house. It was a great miracle that God provided every need for me! Only through God's wonderful provision this was possible. God used me to lead my son Tamilian and my sister to the Lord. While sharing the Gospel and doing village ministry with Independent Church in India, the Lord has used me to lead over sixty people to the Lord Jesus.
