Basic costs for your short-term mission trip to India

Estimated cost of a trip to India

Airfare tickets – Approximately $1,600 round-trip

Expenses (Food, lodging and transportation approximately $35 per day, if ICII has accommodations. If staying at a hotel it will be a higher cost).

**Suggested donation to continue to help to provide for the ministry of Independent Church in India (ICII) $1,000 per visit.

** We ask all that come to do ministry with us could donate $1,000 for our projects. Your donation will go towards our leprosy colony, medical and food outreaches, rice outreaches, tract and Bible distribution; etc. When you raise funds of $1000 or more for the ministry, you will appreciate your time much more in India because you have provided something for the ministry that they did not have before. Your donation will help continue to grow and reach out to the lost and the poorest of the poor in India. You can ask family, relatives, friends, or your church to help you raise these funds! Instead of just raising funds for your own expenses to travel to India, you can also promote the work of ICII which may help you to raise funds more easily for your own expenses as well. When those who are supporting you see the work of ICII they will realize that you are going to India with a purpose and will appreciate your sacrifice to be a missionary.

Ways to raise funds for your mission trip and for Independent Church in India:

1). Give our videos or literature out at your church or other churches you may think have an interest. For example, if you get us a connection for a board member to share ICII at a new church and they take a donation for ICII, that donation will go towards your $1000 that you need to raise.

2). Give out our newsletter and literature to those who may be interested in supporting.

3). Have a fundraiser at your church or social club.

4). Share the vision and needs of Independent Church in India to as many people as you possibly can.

For fundraising we can sell you our dvd’s for half price. DVD’s cost $4 each. These dvd’s are very effective and will touch the hearts of those you are getting to sponsor you. Click here to print out literature needed for fundraisers.

Other Needs:

For Independent Church in India:

If you are coming to do ministry with ICII in India, we will need a letter of recommendation from your pastor, and a letter from you explaining your reasons for coming to visit with us. These things will help us to get to know you better so your time can be spent in a fruitful way here in India.

You will need a valid passport and a tourist visa for India. You also should make an appointment with your physician or a travel doctor well in advance of your departure to discuss your plans and get any vaccinations, anti-malarial medication, or other medical precautions you might need.

Dress Code for Doing Ministry with ICII:

Because of the culture here in India, we have to insist upon a certain standard of dress for those doing ministry with ICII. This is not intended to be legalistic, but practical. The main reason is that dressing the wrong way will offend or distract many Indian people and make it harder to witness to them. However, they are very pleased when a foreign guest shows them the courtesy of adopting Indian ways. If you look more like the Indian cultural norm, they will appreciate you more and you will be more effective in ministry. It’s really a small sacrifice to make. Remember, we are not coming to be comfortable, but to be effective:“I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some” - 1 Corinthians 9:22b

Besides this, we find it absolutely vital to maintain at all times the highest standards of propriety in word, deed, and appearance so that we may be above reproach. This is ministry on the front lines, and if we give the devil any ammunition, he will shoot us down without hesitation.

Men – for field ministry, men may dress in casual pants or jeans, button shirts or t-shirts. Shorts or tank tops are not suitable for ministry and should not be worn in public

Women – The best way to witness is to dress in Indian clothes such as a churidar or a sari. Churidars will be the most comfortable. Ankle-length skirts with loose fitting tops are also fine. It gets very hot here, so cotton usually is the best. You may wear very loose fitting pants and tops. But absolutely no shorts, short skirts, tight jeans or pants, or tank tops are permitted on the ministry field. No legs should be showing when in public.

Ways that you can personally get involved.

Do you ever ask the Lord how He can use you more to preach His Gospel to a lost and dying world? Do you ever seek Him on how He can use you more in every area of your life? If you have a burden to reach the lost and hurting souls in India we need your help. In India the harvest is great, but the laborers are few.

1). Pray for our goals for 2007.

2). Have a church or social fundraiser to provide these urgent needs.

3). Want to help us distribute "Reaping the Harvest" videos? Please email us for more information. We are praying for team workers to join us from any state in the United States or around the world to share "Independent Church In India's" vision by video and literature in the churches, Bible cell, or prayer groups in your surrounding areas.
